Work At Home Moms Never Give Up

by in Inspiration

For most people giving up is easy to do, times are tough and stress levels are high. When the economy fails so does our motivation. Raising children from a rather young age has taught me that it is never easy to do the right thing. Which made me think, doing the wrong thing is easy, but why would I want to be doing something wrong? Giving up can not be an option, we must always do what is right no matter how hard of a task it may be.

For the past five years my father (Mr. Wizard) has been battling Pancreatic Cancer. My family and I have been on one wild emotional roller coaster ranging from anger, to sadness, to depression, and brief periods of joy when we thought we had it beat. Many times I wanted to give up. My father lives in another state and I wanted to quit working and run to be with him. However, I knew what was right for my family and that was staying put. Over the past five months my father’s health has deteriorated and during this time I have learned the most valuable life lesson anyone can learn. No matter how bad you think you have it, someone else has it even worse and has not given up. So no matter what happens DO NO GIVE UP.

Mr. Wizard, my father’s self proclaimed nick-name, is an amazing man. During his battle with Pancan he has been in and out of treatments, endured crazy side effects and long hospital stays. Imagine a man battling this disease, in and out of the hospital for several months, losing weight, not being able to tolerate pain meds or hold down food and yet on that one glorious day where the Lord seems to be shining his light on him the man takes all of his energy and plays a round of golf, 18 holes, and shoots on average a 77! That man is my father and because of him I will constantly look forward to those good days. I ask him, why he goes to play golf instead of resting so he can stay out of the hospital and he says “he can rest when he dies, what is the point of sitting around all the time, why not go out and live a little.”

Working from home is a job that is easy to give up. You are free to watch TV when you want, gorge on sweets, run errands, go shopping etc… One thing you have to remember is why you chose to work from home. When emotions and stress levels are high, do not give up. Take a 15 minute break doing what rejuvenates you the most and get back to work. Take one task at a time. One day at a time. Complete projects and reward yourself. You can handle as much as you are willing to tolerate. I have learned to handle many things at once and while sometimes I want to give up, I don’t. I take time to vent and move on. Because I know there is someone out there who would give the world to change places with me, and I owe it to them, to give it everything I’ve got!

Mary, this is truly an inspirational article…too many people give up instead of sticking in there. When times get tough you have to remember your “why” for doing what you’re doing.

(I had a grandfather who went through many health battles as well…he was truly an inspiration to me.)

Totally agree with you there, Mary. It is SO easy to give up on working from home or think that its TOO hard but stickin’ on has SO many benefits. I think if work-at-home mamas have the right tools to help them get going, life can be SO much easier. That’s one of the reasons I wrote my eBook for work-at-home mothers :-)
